It's time for fall mini-sessions! Currently, I'm scheduling mini-sessions at Rowan Oak in Oxford on Sunday, October 3.

This is a great time to get your Christmas card picture taken or just fun, casual photos of your family or children.

The mini-sessions are one price ($125), and you get three options:

1. 25 custom holiday greeting cards

2. 1 digital image file

3. 1 - 8x10, 2 - 5x7 and 8 - wallets

Victoria and Tripp Parker: Jackson, MS Wedding Photographer

I promised I would get a sneak peak of Victoria and Tripp's wedding on my blog by today. I couldn't be more pleased with some of the pictures we were able to capture. Victoria and Tripp were incredible to work with. It was sweltering hot (I mean, it is July in Mississippi), but they were great about taking pictures outside. We would go in to cool off and then go back outside to do some more.

Their reception was at the Fairview Inn. Have I mentioned how much I love the Fairview? Peter Sharp is great to work with. People threw bio-degradable paper (that looked like snow) as they left.

At the end of the night, someone asked Victoria if her wedding was everything she wanted. She replied by saying, "It was a dream." I think everyone's wedding should be that way!

Garrison's monthly pictures

So I'm behind on posting Garrison's monthly pictures. I can't believe he is already 4 1/2 months old. He's such a sweet baby. Will and I feel blessed to be home with him all day. Granted, it's hard to get a lot of work done (he only naps for 30 minutes at a time).

There have been several things that have happened that made me realize he is MINE and I'm not just babysitting. I know that realization comes at different times for different people. It happened for me the first time I changed his diaper in a public restroom (McAlisters). The first time we took him to church and dropped him off at the nursery was a bit strange. They handed me a tag with a number, and we had to have that tag to pick him back up. I was a bit apprehensive about leaving him in the nursery, but we knew the lady who took him...it makes it a lot easier to hand your child over to someone you know. (I'm also really glad his number didn't flash on the screen during the service). I think it's also a reality check every time I open my purse and there is a diaper inside!

Garrison loves music. He sings himself to sleep. It's really sweet. He loves the itsy bitsy spider and anything Will makes up that has Barbara in it.

When he stretches, he sticks his arms and legs straight out and his body makes an X. We say, "X marks the spot." Somehow, his nickname has become "booger."

We love him.

Stacy and Stephen

I am so happy to share some of Stacy and Stephen's wedding images. Will and I had a great time traveling to the coast to photograph their wedding. The church was a beautiful Catholic church where Stephen's parents were married.

I was able to document one of the sweetest things ever. Stacy's mom has passed away. Her step mother found a picture of Stacy's mom on her wedding day and gave it to Stacy. It was sweet and emotional. I cried, which is not surprising. Stacy carried the picture in her bouquet as she walked down the aisle.

Meredith is beautiful, classy, smart (she's an Ob-Gyn) and PREGNANT!!! And Will and I are super excited because Garrison will have a sweet cousin just five months younger than him to play with. Anderson Gray Griffin will be here in August and we can't wait to meet him. I hope he has tons of red hair, Meredith's smile, and Josh's sense of humor. We know Polly is going to be a great big sister!

Allison and Jamie: Oxford, MS wedding photographer

They say that rain on your wedding day brings good luck. I'm not sure who "they" are, and I'm not sure I believe in luck. But after Jamie and Allison's wedding, I do believe in the value of wedding planners. It STORMED the day of Allison and Jamie's wedding (It stormed so badly, lighting hit my parent's air conditioner and fried it...talk about it being HOT!!!). It literally rained until about 15 minutes before the ceremony started. Allison had to make some last minute decisions - like if she should rent a tent or not - but she didn't have to worry about the details because of her incredible wedding planner Claire Kiamie. Will and I were talking after the wedding - the day could have been a disaster, but it turned out perfectly. Kim worked her rear end off, but Allison and Jamie were able to enjoy their wedding without having to stress over details.

Jamie absolutely ADORES Allison. You can see it in his eyes when he looks at her. You can hear it in his voice when he talks about her. You can see it in the way he treats her. When Allison walked down the aisle towards him to become his wife, you could see Jamie's smile through his tears.

It was such an honor to be a part of your special day!

Allison and Grant are just a classy couple all around. I've had so much fun getting to know them - when you do engagement, bridal and wedding day pictures, you feel like you know people! Allison wore her grandmother's wedding gown during the ceremony and then changed into a fun, modern dress for the reception. They even did a choreographed dance to Jump, Jive, an' Wail (which I expect to be a sensation on youtube one day!).

Garrison's "thawed out" day!!!

One year ago today, Will and I went to Jackson for them to transfer our only (and last) fertilized egg.

We don't share our story a lot, but today I feel like sharing a bit more of our journey. Infertility is very common, but not many people talk about it. It's extremely painful....physically, emotionally and spiritually. I gave myself shots every day for 16 weeks. At one point I gave myself three shots a day. (Will started out giving me the shots, but one time I flinched so he took the needle out without giving me the medicine and he had to poke me again. I started giving them to myself after that). Every month you wonder if you're pregnant. People begin to know way more intimate details of your life than you ever wanted them to know. I mean, who wants to talk to their dad about if you're ovulating and it's the right time to have sex or not. There is no telling how many ovulation tests and pregnancy tests I bought.

I also questioned God's timing. I would see a teenage unwed girl pregnant and wonder why it was so easy for her to get pregnant but not me. People would say, "it's all in God's timing," and while my head knew that was true, my heart still ached for a child.

We started the IVF process and tranfered two fertilized eggs in February 2009. One attached, but I had a miscarriage in March. That Mother's Day was hard. I know I have a baby I haven't met in Heaven. Will and I grieve in different ways. I painted an abstract painting of an empty womb. Will wrote a song. I ended up painting the words around the edges of my painting, incorporating both of our grief into once piece of art.

I don't understand everything about conceiving a baby, but I do know it's a miracle....whether it happens naturally or you have to have help. We were priveledged to see every step. Our specialist, Dr. John Isaacs, is amazing, and we highly recommend him to anyone struggling with infertility. His staff made us feel like we were their only family.

So one year ago today, July 2, 2009, we went into Dr. Isaacs' clinic for them to thaw and transfer our only surviving fertilized egg. Dr. Isaacs said it was like a wet cotton ball when it was frozen, and as it thawed out, it would become fluffy like a dry cotton ball. Incredible. I was talking to my mom today about how neither one of us understands how something living can be frozen and thawed out and still survive.

Ten days later we found out I was pregnant!!

We have friends who have adopted, and they celebrate their child's "gotcha" day. I think Will and I will celebrate Garrison's "thawed out" day!

Sagen is 1!

One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is watching children grow up. I took maternity pics of Jess when she was pregnant with Sagen. One of my favorite pictures of them is when Josh painted Jessica's belly with Sagen's name. Click here to see pics of Sagen in the hospital when she was two days old. So Sagen is now one! Her birthday party was girly and pink - perfect for this little girl in a tutu and cowboy boots. But her party was also bittersweet because Jess and Josh are in the Air Force and they moved the week after her party to their next assignment. Jess, thank you for allowing me to document Sagen's first year of life. You know I'll fly anywhere to take pictures of that sweet girl!

Summer Special - free engagement session

Will and I were honored to be a part of Sarah and Devin's wedding weekend. It started Friday morning with an Indian wedding ceremony and continued Saturday with a Christian ceremony. It was incredible to see how their two families blended and respected each other's traditions and customs.

The ceremony Saturday was at the Capital Club in Jackson.

I love seeing other couples that I have photographed their wedding. Jodi and Phillip Davis and Paul and Rachel Purser (with their baby Piper) were all there. I love all my brides and grooms!

Apple's Skincare and Spa: Aberdeen, MS

Apple's is a GREAT new skincare and spa that just opened in Aberdeen. Abby is amazing and absolutely loves and is passionate about helping people care for their skin. I had a European Facial, and it was the most relaxing thing I've done since Garrison was born! Abby was named for her great grandmother, and her nickname was Apple....hence the name of the spa. You have to take the time to try Apple's. I promise it will be worth it!

Oxford wedding photographer: Mallory and John Carroll

Mallory and John's wedding was my first wedding to photograph after maternity leave. It felt so good to finally be back to work! Their wedding was in Oxford, so it made it a little easier for Garrison to just stay at my parent's house for the day.

Mallory and John were great to work with. After their ceremony, we jumped on the trolley and went on campus and to the square to take a few pictures before heading to the reception at the Oxford University Club.

Every wedding I photograph is different and unique in it's own way. I've seen people shake pom poms as a couple leaves, but John and Mal added a twist. John said over the microphone, "Are you ready?" and they ran through the crowd as everyone yelled "hotty toddy!" It was the perfect ending to an incredible day!

New Power Magazine

Several weeks ago I did a photo shoot for Retro South Music for the cover of The New Power Magazine. Here are a couple of shots from the photo shoot. The first one is Krucial holding Garrison. Krucial is one of our good friends. He's a hip hop artist who will be famous one day. He has a heart of gold and is a believer in God. We call him "Uncle Krucial" to Garrison. I love this picture.

Allison and Jamie

Will and I met Allison and Jamie early one morning in downtown Memphis. Well, it was 9am - that's early for us! Allison has to be at work at 6:30, so it wasn't so early for her. Downtown Memphis is a lot different while people are at work than at night!

I love this picture. It looks like the officer is running towards them to tell them they couldn't be by the trolley!

Garrison is 2 months!!

I can't believe our baby is two months old! Well, first of all, I can't believe we actually have a baby. Infertility is a process that is long, emotional, and sometimes very lonely. But everything we went through, every shot I took, every doctor's visit we had, every tear we cried was completely worth is. Garrison is such a blessing; one that we are thankful for every day.

Initially my goal was to take a picture of Garrison every day. That didn't last long. So now my goal is to take a picture of him each month to show how much he's grown. I don't think I posted his picture in his one month onesie, so here are both months.

Each day we learn something new about Garrison. These are the things I love about him right now:
- when he stretches, his arms fly up over his head because he has no control over them. It's precious.
- his ears are different. His left ear is shaped just like mine. His right ear is shaped just like Will's (it even sticks out more!)
- When he's crying, he pokes out his bottom lip. It's cute and sad at the same time.
- When he is full, his little tummy pokes out.
- When he's falling asleep, he makes these sweet noises and squeeks. Then he breathes a deep sigh when he's fully relaxed. It's like he finally gives up and falls asleep.

We are so thankful for our little booger.

I love this family. They are like family to Will and me. Mackenzie just turned three. I can't believe it!! She is so precious. Josh and Jen are the best parents. I love the relationship both of them have with Mackenzie - together and separately. They both really pay attention to her, they know what makes her happy and what upsets her, they discipline her in a way that makes her respect them but doesn't break her will, and they just simply love her unconditionally. Thanks for being our friends!

For Mac's birthday, her Mimi and Paw took her to Disney World. She absolutely LOVES Minnie Mouse. There is no telling how many stuffed Minnies she has! Jenifer bought her the cutest outfits for each day they were there. This white smocked dress is what she wore the morning of her actual birthday - they had breakfast with the Disney characters. I'm pretty sure she was the cutest kid at Disney!

And this is what happens when you take the big sucker away. She is still talking about that sucker. Friday at lunch, she said it wasn't very nice that her mom took the sucker away! That little girl doesn't forget anything!

So I'm not officially off maternity leave (what does that even mean when you own your own business and are going to keep your baby at home???) but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to take Anna Crawford's 6 month pictures. Her big brother Charlie fell asleep during the photo shoot, so we will take some of the two of them together this summer. Isn't she precious? She is definitely a drama queen (which is precious for me - not so much for her mom!).

Garrison's due date

Today is Garrison's actual due date. That is so hard to believe since he is already three and a half weeks old! People have told me that time flies by, and I really believe it. Will and I had a date Friday night (thank you Nana and Pop for keeping G), and over dinner we were talking about the past three weeks. We would never ever want to relive spending two weeks in the hospital while Garrison was in the NICU, but those times were precious. We scrolled through pictures on our phones, and it broke my heart to see him with a feeding tube, an IV, and monitors all over him. We know God has a plan for this little boy's life and being in the NICU was part of that plan. The staff at the hospital was incredible. From Robin, my delivery nurse, to all the nurses in the NICU (Carrie even gave him a faux hawk one night after his bath!), we couldn't have asked for more attentive, caring people.

As he lays in my arms, there are so many things I already love about him:
- that he is home and no longer in the NICU
- the way he throws his arms up when he stretches
- his sweet yawn
- his soft, dark baby hair
- his half laugh/half cry that sounds like a hyena
- his big blue eyes that are getting darker and darker
- his sweet lips that are Will’s lips
- his bow legs that look just like his daddy’s
- how peaceful he sleeps
- that he loves to have his hands close to his face, especially when he sleeps
- that the only paci he would take for the first two weeks was homemade out of a bottle nipple (thank you Donna from the NICU for making it for him)

Will and I love this little boy, and we love each other. We are now a family of three (with two dogs).

Wow. I don't even know where to begin in telling the journey we have been on for the past week. Will and I had Garrison Till Reedy last Thursday (February 25) at 11:46 pm. He weighed 5 pounds 12 oz and was 19 inches long! I think his feet are about that long too! He has some long fingers and toes.

He was born almost 4 weeks early, and as the doctors have put it, he is transitioning from the womb to the outside world. Because of that, he was admitted to the NICU the day after he was born. He just isn't supposed to be here yet. He's behaving as any baby would at 36 weeks, but he's behaving like he would in the womb. In the womb, he could quit breathing and the placenta would take over. That's not true outside the womb. For the first few days he was learning how to suck, swallow and breathe at the same time. There were scary moments when he would quit breathing, but for the last two days he has done really well at remembering to breathe.

Our challenge for the next few days is eating. He had a feeding tube at first, but we have just been able to start feeding out of a bottle. The will continually increase his feeding times and amounts as he proves his body can handle it. He is daily learning to do things he's never had to do before. He is getting most of his nutrients from an IV, so we won't be able to hold him until the IV comes out. We can touch him and kiss on him. We read to him every night. Last night we started reading the Message for kids, and today we read Green Eggs and Ham to him. Will was excited yesterday because he got peed on for the first time - we know that won't be the last!

The doctors cannot give us a specific time for when he will be released from the NICU, but it could be anywhere from two weeks before to two weeks after his due date (March 22).

We are waiting patiently and trusting in the LORD. Will read Psalm 27 a couple of nights ago. Verse 14 says, "Wait for the LORD. Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD."

I love this little boy...and his parents! Carla and Sam have been friends for several years (I actually photographed their wedding too!). Little Mac is just precious! This is his christening outfit. It was actually Sam's - how special that they were able to use it! Carla wasn't at home when I took these pictures - it was just me and the nanny Victoria. I love that they are a surprise to both Carla and Sam!

I love how children take on the personality of their parents. Will asked Chris which of the girls is most like him and which is most like Leslie. Chris said the youngest is definitely more like her mom - which may be why she laughed and danced the whole time Leslie sang, "There's a party in my tummy" while we took pictures!

I have photographed this family since Tre was born (wow!) and have known Scott since I started graduate school in 2002. I love how God has blessed their family. Their children are precious, and Scott and Nikki are incredible parents. Little Quinn is developing such a cute personality - I love when children wrinkle their noses! And I think I say this every time, but Tre's eyes are simply beautiful!

We stayed a couple of more days because we realized that was probably our last trip just the two of us before Garrison is born! Christmas and New Years

I'm a bit behind in posting about Christmas and New Years. This year we traveled a lot over the holidays. We laughed because between me and Will, we have a lot of stuff. We aren't sure where we are going to put Garrison, much less his stuff, once he is born. This first picture is my family - mom, dad, brother, sister in law, nephew. I love that 9 year old kid (although he'll try to convince you he is 10 years old)!

We went to the Cotton Bowl with Will's family. It's always an experience to travel with a group of people. Here is the crew in front of the limo we took to the game. The new Cowboy's stadium is incredible!!

Over Christmas, my brother surprised Will with a football to Garrison signed by Dexter McCluster. We took this picture to show Garrison one day just how great of a football player Dexter was at Ole Miss!

If you have read my blog very much, you know my brother is the Athletic Trainer for the football team at Ole Miss. This year he let Hayden "work" the Cotton Bowl! He would run water and towels to the officials and players during time outs. I love this picture because you can see my brother (Tim is in the white visor) and how little Hayden looks compared to the players.

Kacie and Ryan are just a genuinely nice couple. Despite the rain, they were very laid back and easy to work with. Their reception was at the MS Craft Center - always an incredible venue to photograph!

Kacie's grandfather gave her this doll. He was so proud of it!

Ryan didn't have a traditional groom's "cake" - he had a big ole' bowl of banana pudding! Yum!

I love this picture. Ryan's dad is in a wheelchair, but that didn't stop his parents from dancing! His mom just sat on his dad's lap, and he turned the chair around in circles - so sweet!!!

Marianna is my best friend from college. I can't believe we have known each other for 13 years! This past weekend Will and I went to Huntsville to take pictures at her company Christmas party - and on Sunday I got to take pictures of their family! Tripp is almost a year old, and he is a little miracle. We are thankful that he and Marianna are both alive! Here are a few of my favorites.

I love when I get to have a family photo shoot like this one. There were so many separate families in this picture that I didn't know what to title the post. The grandparents are in the center, seated. These are some of their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren!

They also let me just take candid pictures - of the kids playing, the women preparing dinner, the family just hanging out. Thanks for letting us hang out with you guys and invade your family time!

This is Meredith Nickels - isn't she precious? I just love her big eyes. Her mom, Whitney, was a bridesmaid in a wedding I photographed. We were talking and realized she was a student trainer at Ole Miss when my dad was the head of Sports Medicine there. When she emailed about taking pictures of Meredith, she asked if my dad could come. I'm not sure my dad has ever been on a photo shoot with me - he is one of the reasons I love photography. He used to take lots of pictures when I was little, and he still has an artistic eye for it. We had a lot of fun, and my dad loved getting to see "Little Bit" again! And Whitney was so sweet to monogram and make some burb cloths for Garrison!!

I went to high school with Mike, so I was excited to photograph his family at Rowan Oak in Oxford! His son, Rel, is precious - I felt horrible, though - he froze throughout the photo shoot. Hopefully we'll be able to take more in the Spring when it warms up!

It rained on Leslie and Nick's wedding day, so we met last week to take more pictures of them. We had so much fun - even Nick had fun riding the trike! Leslie's parents own Lann Hardware in Aberdeen, so we had fun taking pictures in front of and inside the store!

I first met Genie Alice and her mom at a bridal fair in Oxford back in the summer. I knew from that first meeting that I was going to love photographing their wedding! The love that Nate and Genie Alice have for each other is evident, and I hope that shows through in their pictures.

Alex and Maribeth are friends of ours who live in Columbus. Maribeth cuts my hair, and Alex is a musician/worship leader. I think Will and Alex talked about music during the whole photo shoot! Jack Dudley just turned 1, so we tried to cram in a Christmas session, 1 year session, and just some normal pictures. By the end, Jack Dudley was DONE! Brady was a trooper, though!

Emily and Scott were married in October in Hattiesburg. They got dressed (and their reception was held) at Canebrake Golf Club. It was extremely windy, and the bridesmaids froze during our pictures outside, but the clouds were beautiful! Emily and Scott are also Ole Miss fans - his cake was incredible!

Lauren and her mom drove to Columbus for her bridal portraits. We took them at The Puckett House on campus at MUW. She is so beautiful. She wore red shoes with her wedding dress because she loved Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz as a child! This first picture is the one she chose as her portrait - so stunning!

Several weeks ago I photographed a Friday night wedding in Jackson. I've only had one other Friday night wedding, but I LOVED it! Tonya has a very unique style and had so many different and unique details to their wedding. She loves red gerber daisies - I think the florist ordered about 800 of them!

After the reception, Randy, Tonya, Will and I jumped on the Fondren Express trolley and went all over downtown Jackson taking pictures. I used to work for this newspaper - The Jackson Free Press - so I had to take a picture of them "hiding" behind it!

Tonya designed their wedding cake (while sitting in church one Sunday! She took her design to The Cake Diva, who made her design a reality.

Sadie and Kylee Anne

Meghan brought Sadie and Kylee Anne to Columbus today for a photo shoot. These two little girls are first cousins, and they are precious! We had fun at the Riverwalk and downtown taking pictures. They were such troopers - even when Sadie busted her lip twice and fell on her head!

Last week I had a crazy photo shoot of three artists/musicians in Columbus. Will filmed the session while I photographed them. I don't think I've laughed that hard in a long time. They were hilarious and fun and photogenic. This first picture is my favorite - I think it looks like the cover of an album! (Maybe it will be the cover of his next one!!!).

I absolutely love the colors of fall, and the trees at Lake Lowndes are beautiful right now. I photographed the Lassere family two years ago (click here for a slideshow of their pictures) so I was so excited when Lindsy wanted me to take more pictures for them.

This first picture is typical of our photo shoot. Will was behind me acting crazy, trying to get the girls to laugh. Lindsy and Chad were laughing, but the girls were not amused. Boudreaux was just frustrated he was having to sit on concrete and not something soft!

Our good friends Antwann and Kaleena now have a one year old! Crazy!!! I can't believe he's already a year old. It just seems like yesterday that we went to the hospital to see them after he was born. Here is a link to pictures I took of him in April - look at how much he's grown!!

He is the cutest kid - he smiles with his mouth wide open. You can't tell that in these pictures because he's eating a cheeto (his favorite) and birthday cake (which Kaleena made!). Will always tells Jace that he's a rock star. And Will tells our baby that he and Jace will one day be in a band together (can you already live out your dreams through your kids before they are ever born???).

We've been super busy with weddings and family shoots with a couple of out of town trips (we went to see U2 in concert) and doctor's appointments mixed in (I'm officially 21 weeks pregnant!), so I am really behind in updating my blog.

Hillary and Joey were married in Oxford at the Paris-Yates chapel on campus. Their reception was at the Barksdale-Isom house, and they rode the double decker bus there (which I LOVE!!!). They had an incredible band out of Memphis. The lead singer even did a tribute to Michael Jackson with the glove an all!

As we were taking pictures at the reception, Will and I heard someone shout out our names. We looked, and across the street were our friends Clint and Megan. They stalk my blog, so I have to give them a shout out!

Thanks Hillary and Joey for allowing us to photograph your wedding! We had a blast!

Peyton and Bailey Rice

So I've been photographing Peyton since he was a newborn. Then we had another photo session when Allison was pregnant with Bailey, and now he is already 3 months old!!! They are precious boys (and Will loved how they were dressed in their Polo outfits!). Allison and Josh recently moved to North Carolina - he is a pilot in the Air Force, but she came to visit Columbus last week...and I got to take pictures of them! Although we had to bribe Peyton with M&Ms, I think they turned out pretty cute!

As much as I dislike MS State (hate is a strong word), I do admit that the campus has some really pretty places to photograph. Kacie and Ryan met when they were students - actually, she backed into his car, and that was how they met! So it was very appropriate for us to take pictures on campus!

My sweet friends Carla and Sam recently had a baby boy....and he is precious! I can't wait to see how much trouble Mac and our son get into together - I know they will be friends! We left their photo shoot, and I told Will that I love how genuine both Carla and Sam are. I photographed their wedding, and now I'm photographing their child - crazy!

Tracy and Chris Rogers

Tracy and Chris got married at a beautiful church in Fondren and then rode the Fondren trolley to their reception. I enjoyed meeting Chris and Tracy when I took their engagement pictures, so it was so nice to see them again at their wedding. Both Tracy and Chris are genuine and sincere. Chris played golf at Ole Miss and is now a professional golfer. Will hit it off with Chris' dad, who owns several recording studios in Nashville!

Their reception was at the MS Craft Center off Rice Road. Their facility is beautiful - very modern and open with lots of glass. The band was incredible - The Chill. They even played Dixie and everyone yelled "Hotty Toddy!"

I photographed Carter and Matt Milner's wedding last year. It's so good to see old friends that I've photographed!

Taylor Grocery

Taylor Grocery is one of my favorite places. Just a few miles outside of Oxford, it is a hole in the wall gem! Everyone writes on the walls - so you can spend hours looking at everyone's name. It's just a great atmosphere, and the best fried catfish around!

I was extremely excited when Carly and Bob asked me to also photograph their rehearsal dinner. Be on the lookout soon for their wedding pictures!
