I love going to Oxford and photographing Mandy and Steve Shipman's children. I can't believe Sam is already 3 months old - I feel like I just documented his birth story two weeks ago. He's grown so much and is adorable. This was scheduled to be his 3 month session, but I can't help but also take pictures of Mary Margaret. I love the one of her sitting on her shelf reading.

Angel Smith's boys
mom and dad
I love having photo shoots in Oxford because I get to see my parents (and usually my brother, sister in law and nephew, but they weren't in town this past weekend). Friday night after I had been at the house a while, I was sitting in my old room, and Mom said they had a surprise for me and closed my bedroom door. She told me she would let me know when I could come out. Now, for some people, that may not be odd. But it made me a little nervous.
A few minutes later she told me I could come out and to come in the den. I walked in, and my parents were playing "You are my sunshine" on dulcimers. Yes, that's right - dulcimers. They have been playing for about a month and had not told me so they could surprise us. (They were really hoping Will was going to be with me so he could hear them play too). My mom used to wake me up every morning singing "You are my sunshine."

The Barlows
So while we were in Florida, I had a photoshoot with the Barlows. April wants a canvas of the girls for their den. And she and Jason haven't had any pictures together in a while. They were married 7 years this past Monday! I told them I was treating them like any other clients - here are a few of the pictures....

Will and I went to Destin last week with our friends April and Jason Barlow and their daughters Lily and Megan. We had a blast at the beach. April and I got sunburned the first full day we were out, but Jason and Will kept pretty well covered in sunscreen all week. The boys loved playing in the water, although it was a bit chilly when you first get in. We ate great seafood and ate Mellow Mushroom one day (We missed seeing our friend Nase).
On the drive down, we made up rules for the trip. Rule #1: Be nice to each other. I think this was more for me and Jason. We all joke that Jason and I act like brother and sister, so I think rule 1 was put in place so we wouldn't fight like siblings. Rule #2: Someone must wear the straw hat at all times. There were actually two addendums to Rule #2. Rule #2b: The rule only applies when you are outdoors. I think Jason being in the military has something to do with this rule. When he is in uniform, he has to have his head covered outdoors. Rule #2c: Everyone had to have their picture taken in the hat. Well, the only person who succeeded in keeping that rule was Lily. Aren't they precious?
